RV ANNA WEBER-VAN BOSSE

Launch and construction halfway through
An important milestone: on 30 October 2024 the RV Anna Weber-van Bosse has been launched at Astilleros Armon in Vigo, Spain. At the time of the launch the construction of the ship was about halfway through. During the first year of construction, the almost 80 metre-long hull was built in the hall at Armon Shipyards to roughly eight storeys, but the ship will be even higher. The ship did not fit in the assembly hall of the shipyard in its entirety, which is why, among other things, the bridge has been built on top of the hull outside the hall. Delivery is scheduled for late 2025. Read more about the construction of this ship >
RV WIM WOLFF

Christening in the harbour of Texel
On 15 February 2024, the RV Wim Wolff was christened in the harbor of NIOZ on Texel during a festive afternoon. Because the christening of a ship is traditionally performed by a woman, and because namesake Wim Wolff had two sons, the christening was performed by Wim's five-year-old granddaughter Charly Wolff, assisted by Caroline Visser, board member of NWO, the Dutch Research Council. Youthful ‘christening lady’ Charly also symbolizes the future of the ship and the coastal research. RV Wim Wolff, like the RV Navicula, is expected to last four decades.
